Chargé d'Affairs at the US Embassy Margaret Nardi spoke during a virtual session of the Professional Exchange Program for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities organized yesterday, July 26, and is one of the workshop sessions that began on June 23 and will end on July 28, 2021
The session, titled 'Advocating for Change in Collaboration with Officials' highlighted support for the rights of persons with disabilities, experiences and lessons learned from the Disability Rights Movement in the United States, as well as effective support skills for youth and adults with diverse disabilities, their families and leaders.
We are excited to partner with the American Center for International Mobility (MIUSA) and the Bahrain Center for International Mobility to deliver this virtual series of workshops focused on the support and inclusion of people with disabilities. It is important to value disability and diversity as integral features of our society. Today, we are here to support diversity in our community through hands-on activities to empower and support children with disabilities. This program also coincides with the 31st anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, which was signed into law on July 26, 1990. It prohibits discrimination against persons with disabilities in all areas of public life, including jobs, schools, transportation, and other places open to the public .
